UPDATE 9:58 a.m.

The power outage has been restored for all 4,816 customers affected.

Additionally, FortisBC senior manager of corporate communications Nicholas Insley stated there was technical issue on the map this morning and said the power outage never affected anyone in Penticton.

FortisBC has stated the cause of the outage was a wildlife.

UPDATE 9 a.m.

The smaller outage in Kelowna has been restored, meaning 659 customers have their power back.

The bigger outage from south Kelowna to Penticton remains out for 4,816 customers. There is no estimated time of restoration.

A cause is still unknown.

A power outage ranging from Kelowna to Penticton has 5,475 properties in the dark on Wednesday morning.

Listed as two separate outages, the power has been out since 5:23 a.m. on July 29 for FortisBC customers. The reason for the outage remains unknown.

The outage affected part of southeast Kelowna and the southwest Mission neighbourhood. It also stretched down along the east side of Okanagan Lake, with Naramata completely out of town. The outage covers a large portion of downtown Penticton and down Lakeside Road to Shaka Lake.

FortisBC does not have an estimated time for when power will be restored.
