Women’s Team Sprint qualifying
The Welsh team of Emma Finucane, Lowri Thomas and Rhian
Edmunds stole the show as they led the way in qualifying with a Commonwealth
Games record of 46.972secs.
Their time was 0.180secs faster than English trio Katy
Marchant, Sophie Capewell and Rhianna Parris-Smith who will race for gold
against them later.
Scotland’s Maddy Silcokc, Iona Moir and Lauren Bell
were third fastest, 0.3secs back and will face Australia for bronze this evening.
Men’s Team Sprint qualifying
The England team of Joe Truman, Harry Ledingham-Horn and
Hamish Turnbull qualified for the gold medal race, finishing just 0.045 seconds
behind Australia’s time.
Wales were fourth and will ride for bronze against Trinidad
& Tobago after Lewis Oliva, Steffan Lloyd and Ioan Hepburn squeaked into
the top-four ahead of Canada.
Men’s 4,000m Team Pursuit qualifying
England’s Josh Charlton, Henry Hobbs, Charlie Tanfield and
Ethan Vernon will face Australia for gold later after finishing second in
qualifying, 2.115secs behind the Australia team who clocked 3mins 48.77secs.
The Wales team of Rhys Britton, Rory Gravelle, William
Roberts and William Salter were fourth and will take-on New Zealand for bronze,
after the Kiwis finished more than two seconds ahead of them in qualifying.
Women’s 4,000m team pursuit qualifying
Australia and New Zealand led the way in qualifying to
set-up a gold medal showdown.
The Wales team of Megan Barker, Anna Morris,
Ciara Oliva and Jess Roberts claimed third and set up a bronze medal race
against England’s Josie Knight, Maddie Leech, Grace Lister and Abigail
Miller.
Women’s C4-C5 4,000m Individual Pursuit qualifying
England’s Morgan Newberry will ride for gold against Tara
Neyland of Australia, who finished more than 20 seconds clear of the field.
Newberry’s team-mate Kadeena Cox, three-time Paralympic
champion, finished fifth in qualifying and missed out on a place in the bronze
medal race in a race far longer than those in which she enjoyed her career highlights.
Women’s Tandem B sprint semi-finals
England’s Lizzi Jordan was beaten by New Zealand’s Emma
Foy while Sophie Unwin of England was edged-out by Jessica Gallagher of
Australia, with the English duo now set to battle for bronze.
