Citing “overwhelming demand,” the State Department said Thursday that it would offer a passport bearing President Donald Trump’s image to more Americans than previously planned.
The commemorative document, released to mark the 250th anniversary of American independence, was initially announced in the spring. In addition to an imposing likeness of Trump, standing with his fists on the Resolute Desk, the passports include the text of the Declaration of Independence and an image of its signing. State Department spokesman Tommy Pigott said at the time that a “limited number” would be available in July.
