Count Mike Evans among those happy to see Deebo Samuel is back with the 49ers.
Evans, who joined San Francisco in free agency back in March, told reporters on Friday that he’s expecting plenty from Samuel, as he returns to the place where he’s spent most of his career.
“I love the way he plays the game,” Evans said, via David Bonilla of 49erswebzone.com. “I think he’s going to bring what he brought before to the team — that energy, that versatility. Hell of a pickup for us.”
Samuel spent his first six seasons with San Francisco before the club traded him to the Commanders last year. In 16 games for Washington in 2025, he recorded 72 catches for 727 yards with five touchdowns while taking 17 carries for 75 yards with a TD.
Back in 2024 for the 49ers, Samuel caught 51 passes for 670 yards with three touchdowns while taking 42 carries for 136 yards with a TD.
