In addition to South Carolina, the recalled products were shipped to Publix stores in Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, North Carolina, Tennessee, and Virginia.
As of July 29, Publix updated its recall to include three more related packages of frozen fruits.
“Based on the public health officials’ product traceback and epidemiological information, Publix is now taking further action out of an abundance of caution to recall all lots of GreenWise Organic Whole Blueberries and Whole Mixed Berries,” the company said in a statement.

GreenWise Organic Whole Mixed Berries, 10-ounce, UPC 41415-06753
GreenWise Organic Whole Mixed Berries, 48-ounce, UPC 41415-12153
Consumers who have frozen GreenWise blueberry products with the affected lot date should not consume it. The product should be discarded or returned to the place of purchase for a full refund.
Publix has approximately 75 stores around South Carolina.
A total of 12 people so far have been infected with the E. coli strain from two states between the dates of May 11 and June 5. There have been four hospitalizations, but no deaths have been reported.
FDA and state partners are actively working to determine what caused the contamination.
