The New York Islanders will host a blood drive in partnership with the New York Blood Center (NYBC) on Monday, Aug. 3, from 1:30 to 6 p.m., in the Acrisure Great Hall at UBS Arena.
The regional blood supply this summer is dangerously scarce, hitting the lowest quantity since the COVID-19 pandemic, according to NYBC, so they are encouraging those eligible to donate.
Blood donations save the lives of thousands each year, and one in seven hospital visits require a transfusion.
Eligibility requirements include: general good health, being 17 years old (or 16 with parental consent), symptom-free for 72 hours of cold or flu and weigh at least 110 pounds. For more details regarding eligibility, visit the NYBC website.
The New York Islanders are long-standing supporters of NYBC; they have hosted 26 blood drives with them since 2000.
Those who donate at Monday’s blood drive will receive vouchers redeemable for two regular-season Islanders home games for the 2026-2027 season. Exclusions apply.
Sparky, the Islanders mascot, will be in attendance throughout the event.
