Firehouse 51 is saying goodbye to another beloved first responder.
Dermot Mulroney, 62, is set to leave “Chicago Fire” in its upcoming 15th season, according to Deadline. The “My Best Friend’s Wedding” actor, who joined the NBC firefighter drama in Season 13, will reportedly leave early in Season 15.
When reached by USA TODAY, NBC declined to confirm the report. A representative for Mulroney did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
The actor was a series regular playing Chief Dom Pascal and went on hiatus in the second half of Season 14. He joined the series after Eamonn Walker, known for playing Wallace Boden, left the show in Season 12.
On his Instagram Story on July 31, Mulroney shared a list of things he had to do, with the top item being “film ‘Chicago Fire.'”
Mulroney is also expected to star in an upcoming sequel of the 2005 comedy drama “The Family Stone,” he confirmed in a May 20 episode of “The Tangle With Kyle Ridley” podcast. He said Rachel McAdams, Luke Wilson and Craig T. Nelson are all returning.
“I think it’s going to be entitled ‘The Families Stone,'” he said. “Everyone’s up for returning. I can be on record.”
Joe Miñoso leaves ‘Chicago Fire’ after 15 seasons
Mulroney’s departure isn’t the only cast exit to spark shock this week.
Deadline also reported that original cast member Joe Miñoso, 47, is leaving the show in Season 15.
Since the show’s 2012 premiere, Miñoso has played recurring firefighter Joe Cruz before becoming a full-time cast member in Season 2. His character will be written out after a few episodes early in Season 15, per Deadline.
With Miñoso’s exit, the remaining actors who have been on “Chicago Fire” since Season 1 include Taylor Kinney. who portrays Kelly Severide, and David Eigenberg, who portrays Christopher Herrmann.
The Season 14 finale, which aired on May 13, ended on a cliffhanger as Cruz and several other Firehouse 51 firefighters were trapped inside a burning storage facility.
