49ers are putting WR Ricky Pearsall on season-ending IR

49ers receiver Ricky Pearsall’s third NFL season is already over.
Via Matt Barrows of The Athletic, G.M. John Lynch said Saturday that the team will be putting Pearsall on injured reserve. By rule, he won’t be eligible to return to the 49ers in 2026.
Pearsall had a lingering PCL injury from 2025. He’ll have surgery to repair the situation in the hopes of being healthy in 2027.
A first-round pick in 2024, Pearsall’s debut was delayed after he was shot during a robbery attempt on Labor Day weekend. He eventually appeared in 11 games, with four starts. Last year, he started all nine games in which he played.
For his career, Pearsall has 67 catches for 928 yards and three touchdowns.
On Thursday, the 49ers brought back receiver Deebo Samuel after he spent 2025 in Washington. They may need to add another receiver or two to complement veteran Mike Evans, who signed in March after 12 seasons in Tampa.
