Chelsea forward Joao Pedro is in line to be rewarded with a new contract.
The 24-year-old forward joined Chelsea from Brighton & Hove Albion last summer for a deal in excess of £50million and signed a seven-year contract that runs until 2032.
The Brazil international is now set to be rewarded with extended terms, according to sources briefed on the situation, speaking on the condition of anonymity to protect relationships.
The Athletic reported in June that Joao Pedro had been highlighted as a player Barcelona liked. Chelsea have been aware of interest from other clubs, and have made him one of their players they consider not for sale this summer.
Joao Pedro is not the only Chelsea player expected to get a fresh agreement in place in the coming weeks.
Joao Pedro scored 23 goals and provided nine assists in 53 appearances during his debut season at Chelsea, establishing himself as the club’s first-choice striker. He was chosen as Chelsea’s Player of the Season by The Athletic.
He described last campaign as “one of the best seasons” in his career in an April interview with the club. He said: “I’m very happy. I think it’s (been) one of the best seasons of my life.
“I think the expectations from me were high, so I try to keep my mentality always forward to help my team-mates.”
The versatile forward has also made eight appearances for Brazil, but was left out of Carlo Ancelotti’s squad for the 2026 World Cup.
Joao Pedro scored a nine-minute hat-trick during Chelsea’s 6-4 pre-season victory over Western Sydney Warriors on July 28.
The Athletic reported in July Chelsea were working on a deal to sign Joao Pedro’s former Brighton team-mate Danny Welbeck.
