On Wednesday night, Melanie Woods had her first Commonwealth Games medal taken away from her.
But Saturday night, she had two around her neck. Both of them were gold.
The 31-year-old won the women’s 1500m T54 on Wednesday, then again on Friday, after it was decided the race should be restaged after an accident.
And she backed that up in her home city by romping to victory in the 400m in a season’s best time of 56.43 seconds.
“It’s a very special moment and one I’ll remember for a long, long time,” she said.
“As Para-athletes we’re not used to crowds and I couldn’t have prepared myself for how special this would be.”
