Democrats might want to expand their coalition, but James Carville believes there is no tent big enough to hold both him and Hasan Piker.
In an interview on Fox News’ The Sunday Briefing with anchor Jacqui Heinrich, Carville — who’s spent nearly a half century as a Democratic strategist — made clear he wants no part of a Democratic party with Hasan Piker in it.
“I am not going to be in the same party with Hasan Piker, I can tell you that right now,” Carville said. “If he becomes a force in a Democratic Party, I’m out of here. I have no intention of ever being in the political party with that guy.”
Carville sounded off on the Democratic socialist platform — which has gotten increased attention in recent days following a viral Fox segment in which the Democratic Socialists of America co-chair called for the abolition of the U.S Senate and defunding of the Pentagon. Piker has supported numerous DSA-backed candidates.
“I think that a majority, overwhelming majority Democrats agree with me,” Carville said. “But this idea that we’re going to seize the means of production…just go look at the DSA platform. You don’t have to look any further than that.”
The Democratic strategist speculated that “the two party system is just going to be under tremendous stress here in the coming months” — noting an ideological dispute playing out on the right in which figures like Tucker Carlson and Marjorie Taylor Greene are breaking from MAGA.
“I can’t sit here and tell you for certain how this is going to turn out,” Carville said. “The one thing I can tell you is for certain, Hasan Piker and James Carville are not going to be in the same political party. One of us is going to leave. It might even be me.”
