WWE SummerSlam 2026 continued the Danhausen hype train as he took over “The Biggest Party of the Summer.”
Fresh off an epic moment with NBA star Karl-Anthony Towns at Saturday Night’s Main Event, the uber-popular Danhausen looked to keep that momentum going with a SummerSlam match against Dominik Mysterio. Over the past several weeks, Danhausen found himself at odds with Mysterio’s faction The Judgment Day, and he even picked up a big win over the group’s lower tier star JD McDonagh at SNME.

But at WWE SummerSlam 2026, Danhausen faced a tough challenge in the crafty and sly Mysterio, a former Intercontinental Champion and one of WWE’s most loathed villains.

WWE SummerSlam 2026 Results For Danhausen Vs. Dominik Mysterio
Don’t look now, but Danhausen is continuing his run as arguably WWE’s biggest success story of 2026.
At WWE SummerSlam, Danhausen picked up a massive singles victory when he defeated Mysterio in, yes, a “Human Monies on a Pole” Match. Even with Mysterio having his Judgment Day stablemate JD McDonagh in his corner, Danhausen shocked the world thanks to major assists from Joe Hendry and a team of Mini-Hausens.

Mysterio immediately attacked Danhausen and attempted to grab the “Human Monies” on a polebut was denied. He then missed a 619 before Danhausen hit him with a suplex and a pair of corner clotheslines. Danhausen missed a splash and then got blasted by a big clothesline from Mysterio.

Mysterio went for the Three Amigos, but Danhausen blocked the last attempt and crawled to the corner. As Danhausen went for the money, JD McDonagh showed up, prevented him from going up, and then hit him with a nice moonsault. Seconds later, a group of Mini-Hausens showed up to attack McDonagh.

McDonagh held his own and beat them down, but one of the mini masked wrestlers hit a head scissors takedown and a crossbody block followed by a spinning DDT. The Mini-Hausens formed a human pyramid and attempted to grab the money, but Mysterio prevented them from doing it.

One of Danhausen’s minions took out Mysterio with a flipping dive on the outside. Then, Danhausen crawled back into the ring and nearly grabbed the money until McDonagh interfered again and cleaned house. Suddenly, Joe Henry’s music hit, and he entered the stadium with his guitar and destroyed McDonagh with it.

With both Danhausena and Mysterio up top, Mysterio grabbed the money, but Danhausen screamed “you are cursed.” The bag of money essentially exploded, and that caused Mysterio to fall, allowing Danhausen to grab the bag of “human Monies” for the win.
WWE SummerSlam 2026 Results: What’s Next For Danhausen And Dominik Mysterio?
Danhausen has quickly becoming one of pro wrestling’s most polarizing figures in 2026.
On one hand, critics like the Wrestling Observer’s Dave Meltzer believe he’s being overexposed with too many segments and screen time on Raw and SmackDown for what some consider a niche gimmick. On the other hand, Danhausen’s push has created numerous viral moments, he’s an incredible merchandise mover, and he consistently generates strong crowd reactions.

WWE seems to have found the right formula with Danhausen for now, but the key is making sure the company doesn’t cross the line and overdo it. Some will say, however, that his SummerSlam win over Mysterio already did that as Mysterio’s SummerSlam loss was a bit of a head scratcher.
It has been somewhat of a down 2026 for Mysterio, who has lost the Intercontinental Championship and then slid down the card from where he was over the previous two years. Though Mysterio still generates strong reactions, they aren’t quite as loud as they once were, and a feud with Danhausen isn’t exactly a main event caliber storyline.
Mysterio may never be a world champion in WWE, but he’s a heat magnet who’s part of the longest-running stable in the company. He should be higher up on the card than he currently is, and yet, he doesn’t seem to be much of a creative priority right now.

After Mysterio lost a comedy match at WWE SummerSlam, the creative team has to find a way to get him back on track and into more high-profile feuds rather than midcard comedy shenanigans.
