WWE SummerSlam 2026 results: Kevin Owens returns and pins Sami Zayn to become the new number one contender

New (or old?) SmackDown General Manager Nick Aldis made an executive decision at the start of tonight’s (Sun., Aug. 2, 2026) SummerSlam premium live event in Minneapolis to make a change to the Finn Balor vs. Sami Zayn number one contender’s match. He added GUNTHER, who defeated him just last night. Then, to the surprise of everyone in the building, and to the utter shock and disbelief of Zayn, none other than Kevin Owens made his return to make it a Fatal 4-Way.
