Concertgoer David Granado Jr. dies after reportedly suffering brain injury at Vans Warped Tour in Long Beach
LONG BEACH, Calif. (KABC) — A concertgoer’s family is seeking answers after he reportedly suffered a “traumatic and ultimately fatal” brain injury while attending the Vans Warped Tour in Long Beach.
David Granado Jr. attended the tour’s July 26 show with his girlfriend, brother and friends, according to a GoFundMe page created in his honor.
“As the family tries to piece together the timeline of what exactly happened to Dave in the hours leading up to being transported to the hospital, they are also facing the unexpected logistics and cost of medical bills and final arrangements,” a statement on the fundraising site said. “Funds from this will go directly to Dave’s mother.”
The Long Beach Police Department is investigating the death, but the preliminary investigation did not find any foul play, according to the Los Angeles Times.
“With emergency surgery and multiple days of life support, the family is not sure what the final cost will be,” the statement said. “We hope we can at least partially help relieve some of the financial burden as they deal with this devastating situation.”
This year’s Vans Warped Tour was headlined by the bands Jimmy Eat World, All Time Low and Bowling for Soup.
In a statement to the L.A. Times, a representative for the festival said, “We are deeply saddened by the loss of a member of the Warped community and extend our heartfelt condolences to his family and all who knew and loved him.”
