Natalie Portman is sharing new details about her pregnancy journey.
The Black Swan actress, 45, recently spoke with Elle about expecting her third baby, her first with partner Tanguy Destable, and shared some of the side effects she’s been experiencing this time around. Portman is already mom to son Aleph, 14, and daughter Amalia, 9, with ex-husband Benjamin Millepied.
“Scent becomes much more present for me when I’m pregnant each time, for better or worse,” she said. “I was at a restaurant with a friend of mine the other night, and I was like, ‘There’s gas. There’s a problem.'”
“My sense is much more potent and it must be something to warn you about danger, because I am hyperaware of gas and smoke,” added Portman.

The actress also shared the differences she’s noticed between being pregnant in France versus in the United States.
“It’s interesting, actually. In many ways, the same. I find the doctors to be amazing in both places, but they do have different landmarks for pregnancy and some of the tests they recommend are different,” she began. “The biggest difference for me is a socialized versus not-socialized approach to medicine.”
“When you’re in a socialized medicine country, they’re trying to do the best for the most people, without making you pay for extra stuff,” she continued. Whereas, in the U.S., they’re like, ‘Well, if you want this, we can add this.’ You can see that it is also a business.”
Last month, the Thor: Love and Thunder actress shared a new photo on Instagram, showing her bare baby bump. In the snap, Portman could be seen standing in front of an apartment balcony in an oversized blue button-down, holding her stomach.

“Counting the days until we meet you 🩷,” she wrote. “Thank you @shelbyduncan for your talent 📸.”
Several of Portman’s famous friends expressed their love for the star’s photo in the comments.
“Gee whiz,” replied Macaulay Culkin, while Jenner Garner dropped a string of heart emojis.

The Fountain of Youth star first revealed her pregnancy news back in April during an exclusive interview with Harper’s Bazaar.
At the time, Portman shared her excitement about welcoming a new addition.
“Tanguy and I are very excited,” she said. “I’m just very grateful. I know it’s such a privilege and a miracle.”
The No Strings Attached star also shared that she’s feeling a deeper sense of gratitude with her third pregnancy. Portman said her pregnancy is more of a “calm” experience this time, adding she’s cherishing every moment.
“There is a gratitude that when you’re young, you don’t necessarily grasp,” she said. “And there’s a calm and knowing myself: who I want to spend time with, what kind of energy I want around me that makes the experience so beautiful every day. And knowing it’s probably the last time, I cherish every moment.”
