Cassie Plummer (Claire Sweeney) has left Coronation Street under a dark cloud – and we may never know where she ended up.
Last week, the character was ostracised from the Weatherfield community by partner Steve McDonald (Simon Gregson) and son Tyrone Dobbs (Alan Halsall), after it was discovered that she was the one who’d drugged Tracy Barlow (Kate Ford).
It was actually Tyrone’s dad Ross Wilkes (Ian Burfield) who she’d earlier exposed as a paedophile who paid her for sex as a teenager.
The aftermath saw Cassie in tears, Ross’s new romance Tracy Barlow (Kate Ford) appalled, and Tyrone conflicted by his dad’s claims that he thought she was older.
Ultimately, Ty decided to give his dad another chance – on the understanding that Cassie was OK with this. She grindingly accepted an apology for her son’s sake, and later, the story took a far more sinister turn.

Ross pinned her against the wall and said that if she was to try and cause any more upheaval, he’d kill her.
Cassie hoped that by drugging Ross, he’d lose his job at Highfield Prison and be forced to leave. She placed a couple of painkillers in a smoothie, but he discovered her plot and handed the drink to Tracy instead.
She was blue-lighted to hospital, and when Steve found the empty pill packet that Ross had planted into Cassie’s coat pocket, he threw her out into the street.
In today’s episode, Cassie woke up on Tim Metcalfe’s (Joe Duttine) sofa. He’d found her nursing a bottle of whisky in the cab office the night before, and brought her to the safety of his house.
She told him everything that had happened, and decided that she was going to spend the day trying to make amends with her loved ones. Unfortunately, Tyrone didn’t want to hear her excuses and after learning she’d secured a job on a cruise ship, ordered her to leave immediately.
Before her departure, Cassie tried to warn daughter-in-law Fiz Dobbs (Jennie McAlpine).
Meanwhile, at Streetcars, Tim implored Steve to listen to Cassie, and to head to the precinct to find her before she made a bad decision.

Unfortunately, Ross arrived before he had the chance. Cassie was cradling a picture of her family and was ushered into Ross’s car, under the belief that Tracy had reported her to the police and that he could help her make a quick escape.
While in the vehicle, it became quickly apparent that Ross had lied through his teeth and that the authorities hadn’t been contacted. Cassie panicked and attempted to leave, but he wasn’t willing to unlock the doors.
That night, as the Dobbs clan wondered whether she’d managed to get away, Ross glared at the picture he’d stolen from her.
