The Chase star Paul Sinha’s devastation over ‘best team he’s ever faced’

The Chase quizmaster Paul Sinha admitted he was “preparing for disaster” after facing what fans have dubbed possibly “the best team ever” on the latest episode of the  ITV quiz show. The former doctor, who goes by “The Sinnerman” took on Liam, Alison, Heather and Mike on Monday’s episode (October 9) alongside host Bradley Walsh in hopes of bagging a cash prize.

And it was clear from the get-go that this team came to win, as the first two players, Liam and Alison managed to score £7k in their cash builders and bring it home to the team. Heather scraped through with £4k but Mike stormed home with £9k – bringing their total to £27k and a full house going into the final chase. Paul admitted this is “the best” team he had faced in a long time and admitted “this could even be disastrous for me or really good, but I think it will be disastrous”.

Fans were rooting for the impressive team, though some has reservations about teacher Heather, who made a series of stumbles during her head-to-head with Paul and seemed to be trailing behind the others.

“A good team says Heather! Well it is with the exception of you!,” blasted one fan. “Well done Heather there. Freeloader special.”

Things took a similar turn during the final chase as the team managed to snwer a whopping 23 questions correctly – with Heather not buzzing in to answer a single one.

Despite that, the team were able to put huge pressure Paul. Who stumbled even on the second question. He offered up five attempts to push back with three executed, giving the team an even bigger advantage.

“Paul waves the white flag!” said one fan. “Paul had basically no chance but he knew that anyway to be fair,” penned another.

The team, unsurprisingly, stormed to victory, landing themselves £7,750 each.

Fans were elated for the team, despite feeling Heather didn’t deserve to split the money equally.

“Heather needs to eat a bit of humble pie when she goes back to her pub quiz mates,” one fan offered.

“It’s been far too long since we’ve seen a really good team. Enjoy the win – well deserved,” gushed another, while a third added: “Paul did a great job to be fair. Under a lot of pressure and still almost caught up. But the team deserve the win overall.”

Paul Sinha recently opened up about a terrifying health scare which he describes as ‘the worst week’ of his life.

The TV personality, 55, who was diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease in 2019, revealed he underwent open-heart surgery.

Speaking on The One Show, he said: “I had a coronary artery bypass operation, which I can honestly say was the worst week and a half of my life

“Everything has been a sort of comeback since then. Steady, unspectacular comeback, no great drama.”
