Ontario Provincial Police say two people who failed to return home from a camping trip last weekend in northern Ontario have been found dead.
The two sudden deaths took place near Guenette Lake, east of Kapuskasing. Police haven’t said whether foul play is suspected in the case.
OPP received a call Aug. 1 that the two people didn’t return home after their trip, sparking a search by the emergency response team, canine unit, OPP aviation services and the Ministry of Natural Resources.

“On Sunday … two individuals were located deceased. The identities of the deceased are not being released at this time,” police said in a news release Aug. 4.
“Investigators believe this was an isolated incident with no signs of a broader threat.”
In an email to CTV News on Tuesday, OPP Const. Kyler Brouwer said he couldn’t comment on the cause of death of the victims in the case.
“We are not releasing any additional information regarding the deceased at this time,” Brouwer said.
“There is no threat to public safety.”
Police are appealing to anyone who was near Guenette Lake between July 30 and Aug. 2 “who witnessed anything unusual or suspicious, or has information or video footage, including trail camera recordings, that could assist the investigation, to contact police.”
The investigation is being conducted by the James Bay OPP crime unit, under the direction of the OPP’s criminal investigation branch, in conjunction with the Office of the Chief Coroner and the Ontario Forensic Pathology Service.
