The Dolphins announced a major change at the top of the organization on Tuesday.
President and CEO Tom Garfinkel has stepped down after 13 years in the role. Garfinkel will remain vice chairman of the team and Hard Rock Stadium as well as the managing partner of the Miami Grand Prix.
“I love the Dolphins and the people here, but after 13 years it was just the right time for me to make this decision,” Garfinkel said in a statement. “The business has never been in a better place and the team of people we have here is second to none in sports. I want to thank the South Florida community and Dolphins fans for all of their support over the years and especially [Dolphins owner] Steve Ross for the opportunity to be a part of this great organization.
Ross also announced the creation of Ross Sports & Entertainment and named Daniel Sillman the CEO of the new organization, which will encompass the Dolphins, Hard Rock Stadium, the Miami Grand Prix, the Miami Open tennis tournament and the Precision Drive Club. Sillman will oversee the Dolphins’ football operations in his new role.
