The top seeds have arrived. Tuesday marks the introduction off seeded players into the 2026 National Bank Open.
A couple of former Grand Slam champions headline the Centre Court sessions, including the World No. 1 who will kick things off under the lights in the night session.

CENTRE COURT – starts at 12:30 PM
- [7] Iga Swiatek (POL) d. Sara Bejlek (CZE) 6-0, 6-3
- The bakery is open! Swiatek was dialled in to start her Toronto campaign, delivering a first-set bagel as part of a nine-game run to open her tournament. Bejlek would rally in the second set, recovering one break and having nine break-point chances to draw level at 3-3 in a wild 22-minute, 13-deuce Swiatek service game. But the Pole escaped that game and did not give the Czech another chance, breaking to wrap up the win.
- [10] Marta Kostyuk (UKR) d. [WC] Katherine Sebov (CAN) 7-6(4), 6-0
- Kostyuk survived the opening set despite a disastrous serving display where she only put 30 per cent of her first serves in play and double-faulted seven times leading to three breaks before finding her rhythm in the second, ending Sebov’s hometown run. READ MORE

- [1] Aryna Sabalenka d. [Q] Moyuka Uchijima (JPN) 6-3, 6-3
- The World No. 1 was not firing on all cylinders in her Toronto opener, especially early in sets, but she did enough to get out of it in straight sets. Sabalenka was broken in the opening game but reeled off five straight games to turn an 0-2 deficit into a 5-2 edge. The second set started with five consecutive breaks, three of them going to the top seed before she held to go up 4-2. Uchijima never got close again and Sabalenka broke one more time to wrap up the win.

- [8] Amanda Anisimova (USA) d. [Q] Lanlana Tararudee (THA) Walkover
GRANDSTAND – starts at 11:00 AM
- [9] Elina Svitolina (UKR) vs Jessica Bouzas Maneiro (ESP) 6-7(5), 7-6(4), 6-4
- The 2017 Toronto champ struggled mightily early, dropping serve four times in the first set. She was effective enough on return to force a breaker, but lost it and then was broken again early to fall behind 3-1 in the second. However, she turned things around, breaking back and sneaking out that set in a tiebreak. Svitolina then raced out to a 5-0 lead in the decider, but nearly blew the lead as Bouzas Maneiro recovered both breaks. Despite failing to close it out twice on her own serve, Svitolina still escaped with the win, breaking when the Spaniard served to draw level in the 10th game.
- [15] Diana Shnaider d. [Q] Rebecca Sramkova (SVK) 6-2, 4-6, 6-1
- A break in the opening game of the second set forced the 2024 Toronto semifinalist into a decider, but Shnaider broke twice in the third set, just like she did in the first, to remove any drama from a potentially tricky opener.
- [19] Madison Keys (USA) d. Antonia Ruzic (CRO) 6-1, 6-2
- Keys broke in Ruzic’s first service game, which set the tone for the match. While she had to battle through a few tough service games of her own and did get broken once in the second set, the 2025 Australian Open champion was on the front-foot throughout.
Not before 5:00 PM
- [17] Anna Kalinskaya d. McCartney Kessler (USA) 6-2, 6-7(3), 6-4
- Kalinskaya led by a set and a break but after Kessler drew even, the No. 17 seed played a disastrous tiebreak to find herself in a third set. She then fell behind a break twice but both times immediately broke back. She then scored a third break of the decider in the final game to sneak out the win.
COURT 1 – starts at 12:30 PM
- [16] Ekaterina Alexandrova d. Camila Osorio (COL) 6-3, 7-6(4)
- Inability to hold a lead cost Osorio in this one. The Colombian broke early to take a 3-0 lead, only to lose eight games in a row to lose the set and go down a break in the second. She turned the tables and served for the second set at 5-4, but was broken and ended up losing it in a tiebreak.
- [18] Maja Chwalinska (POL) vs Talia Gibson (AUS) 7-5, 6-1
- Gibson was resilient in the first set, breaking back immediately after being broken twice before scoring a late break to steal the opening set. That gave the Aussie momentum as she raced through the Roland-Garros runner-up in the second set.
- Shuai Zhang (CHN) vs [26] Jelena Ostapenko (LAT) 6-0, 4-0 ret.
- Ostapenko seemed to be struggling physically throughout the match and never got anything going. She was the physio midway through the second set and retired soon after.
- Kamilla Rakhimova (UZB) d. [32] Katerina Siniakova (CZE) 6-7(1), 6-0, 5-2 ret.
- Siniakova managed to salvage the first set after blowing a 4-1 double-break lead by dominating the tiebreak, but from there she struggled to keep up with Rakhimova. The Uzbekistani won 11 of the next 13 games before the Czech veteran retired one game away from defeat with an apparent neck/shoulder injury.
COURT 4 – starts at 12:30 PM
- [31] Donna Vekic (CRO) vs Viktorija Golubic (SUI) 5-7, 6-2, 6-3
- Golubic let the first set slip away, getting broken back immediately on two separate occasions before Vekic broke for a third time late, but she cleaned things up in the second and third sets. The Swiss broke five times over the final two sets while only dropping her own serve once. That did come when she served for the match in the third, but she immediately broke Vekic back as the Croatian served to stay in it.
- [24] Anastasia Potapova (AUT) d. Elena-Gabriela Ruse (ROU) 6-4, 6-2
- Potapova held the line on serve despite a lot of pressure from Ruse, saving eight of nine break points she faced. The Austrian was very efficient on return, breaking twice in each set to advance in straight sets.
