REGINA, SK – Long-time Flin Flon Bombers head coach and general manager, and Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League (SJHL) Hall of Famer Mike Reagan has been hired as an assistant coach with the Kelowna Rockets of the Western Hockey League (WHL), the club announced Tuesday.
Reagan, 47, was the longest-tenured active coach in the SJHL and led the Bombers to their first league title since 1993 when his club beat the Yorkton Terriers in four games in the 2026 Canterra Seeds Cup Final.
“The SJHL is tremendously happy for Mike,” said SJHL commissioner Kyle McIntyre.
“His departure is bittersweet on many levels. He leaves an extremely positive legacy of coaching excellence in Flin Flon and in our league. We wish Mike nothing but success and thank him for his positive impact on and leadership in our league.”
His coaching resume also includes five appearances on the staff of Team Canada West at the Junior A World Challenge, over 70 player advancements to the NCAA Division I and Canadian University level, over 600 SJHL victories, and a league and national Coach of the Year honour in 2024.
The Flin Flon, MB native is the Bombers’ 4th-leading scorer all-time, and has played the most games in the history of the club with 239 appearances between 1996 and 2000.
He went on to a four-year career at Sacred Heart University of NCAA Division I.
Kelowna hosted the 2026 Memorial Cup and finished in fourth out of four teams after they were eliminated in Round 2 of the WHL Playoffs by the eventual league champion Everett Silvertips.
The Bombers are expected to name a new head coach/GM soon.
