It’s been a rough three days on the injury front for the Denver Broncos.
After starting center Luke Wattenberg exited practice on Monday and star pass rusher Nik Bonitto limped off the field on Tuesday, new wide receiver Jaylen Waddle walked into the locker room during Wednesday’s practice.
Waddle walked into the locker room with his helmet, without any trainers, according to reporters on site. Waddle left the field and, as of the second team period of practice, has not returned. KOA’s Benjamin Allbright tweeted that Waddle “pulled up a bit” before leaving the field. The Denver Post‘s Troy Renck tweeted that Waddle appeared to pull up slowly while running a route on air.
Broncos coach Sean Payton is set to speak to media members after Wednesday’s practice ends.
Payton said Wattenberg would be “fine” after Monday’s practice, and he said Bonitto would be “fine” after Tuesday’s practice. Wattenberg and Bonitto were among five injured players who worked on a side field during Wednesday’s practice.
Denver’s backup options at center, outside linebacker and receiver include Alex Forsyth, Jonah Elliss and Marvin Mims, respectively.
