Elections NL Enacts Contingency Plan Due to Postal Strike

Elections NL has enacted what it calls a comprehensive contingency plan in light of the postal strike.

The agency assures that all Newfoundlanders and Labradorians will be able to vote in the upcoming general election.

Vote-by-mail kit delivery is ongoing, using alternative delivery services. Those who choose to vote by mail are responsible for returning their kit by the established deadlines.

Kits must be returned to the nearest Elections NL District Returning Office by Thursday, October 9, 4 p.m. (3:30 most of Labrador), to Elections NL on Stavanger Drive by Saturday, October 11, 4 p.m., by arranging pickup through Elections NL, or by the delivery service of the voter’s choice.

Anyone who is homebound can call 1-877-729-7987.

Voter Information Cards will not be required to vote because of the strike.

Tomorrow is advance polling day in the province from 8am-8pm on the island and 7:30am 7:30 pm in most of Labrador.
