Suspects break into Cambridge home

Several break-and-enters have taken place in the last several weeks in Waterloo Region, particularly in Cambridge.

In a press release by the police, they are asking members of the public to review security camera footage after unknown suspects caused property damage while breaking into a home.

It happened on Oct. 3 between 7:45 and 8:30 p.m. The suspects gained entry to the house on Spooner Crescent and took personal belongings. Officials are again reminding people to be vigilant and keep doors and windows locked and to install alarm systems.

Just a week ago, in another part of Cambridge, police warned the community of Silver Heights to be careful amid multiple break-ins.

A press release from the force said that the teams are looking into three residential break-and-enters that happened between Sept. 3 and 22. People living in the area of Baldwin, Silverthorne and Henwood Drives and Horton Walk are being asked to check their home security cameras between Sept. 16-22 for suspicious people or vehicles.

Tips from police:

  • Keep doors and windows locked, even when home
  • Keep valuables out of common areas and out of plain sight
  • Install audible noise alarm systems
  • Secure residences with home video surveillance cameras in the front and back of the residence
  • Notify neighbours when away for an extended period and arrange to have someone check on your residence
  • Report any suspicious persons or vehicles to police
