M6 shutdown in both directions as central barrier hit in crash

Major delays are continuing due to a crash which has shut the M6 at the Samlesbury junction.

Emergency services are on the scene due to a crash which has hit the central reservation.

All lanes were closed northbound and southbound at Junction 31 but re-opened around 9am although lane closures continue on the southbound stretch through the Tickled Trout as barrier repairs are taking place.

There are severe delays northbound from Junction 28 and also southbound from Junction 32. Delays are also building back onto the M61 northbound with delays set to continue throughout Friday morning.

Garstang Road, London Road and Ringway through Preston are showing as very busy due to motorists trying to find an alternative route away from the M6.

The crash took place shortly before 8am on Friday (7 August).
