M6 delays in the West Midlands after lorry catches fire

There are delays on a stretch of the M6 in the West Midlands after a lorry caught fire.

National Highways said the incident was affecting the motorway northbound between junctions four and six in Birmingham, and lanes one, two, and three, out of four, remained closed.

It said there were traffic delays of up to 20 minutes on the approach, with two miles of congestion. People heading to Birmingham Airport have been warned to expect long delays northbound.

West Midlands Police and West Midlands Fire Service attended the scene.
