WTA Toronto Day 6 Predictions Including Naomi Osaka vs Elise Mertens

Day 6 at WTA Toronto will feature the conclusion of the round of 32, with some very interesting matches in prospect. It should be a day full of long, exciting matches, as well as very high-quality tennis between some of the best players in the world. But who will advance?
WTA Toronto Day 6 Predictions
Iva Jovic vs Alina Korneeva
Head-to-head: first meeting
Iva Jovic has been steadily rising in the rankings, and she has an excellent opportunity to make another deep run at WTA Toronto, facing a qualifier in the round of 32. Korneeva has been playing very well all the way from qualifying and could definitely cause problems here, but Jovic is the better and more consistent player of the two and should advance.
Prediction: Jovic in 3
Mirra Andreeva vs Leylah Fernandez
Head-to-head: Andreeva 2-1 Fernandez
Mirra Andreeva has only won two matches (one at WTA Toronto) after claiming her maiden Grand Slam title at Roland Garros. Still, things should get back to normal on hard courts, and she is definitely a candidate to go deep or even win the 1000 tournaments and, of course, the US Open. Fernandez might be playing at home, but at this point in their respective careers, Andreeva should have a very clear edge.
Prediction: Andreeva in 2
Taylor Townsend vs Belinda Bencic
Head-to-head: Bencic 1-0 Townsend
Bencic has been putting together quite a consistent season, mostly losing to players ranked above her, and she should have a very clear edge against an opponent ranked outside the top 100. If Bencic can play anywhere close to her normal level, she should pull through here against a Townsend that hasn’t really been playing well.
Prediction: Bencic in 2
Naomi Osaka vs Elise Mertens
Head-to-head: Osaka 5-3 Mertens
Osaka has been making some strides this season, and if she is to return to the top 10 or even win another Slam, it will probably happen on a hard court. She reached the final last year in Canada and could well make another very deep run here as she looks to gain momentum ahead of the US Open. Mertens won’t be an easy opponent, but Osaka should be able to pull through.
Prediction: Osaka in 2
