Day 1 – Friday, August 7

Rotation 4

9:00 p.m. – That’s a wrap on Day 1

Skye Blakely and Claire Pease are tied at the top, but five athletes scored a 55 or over and are within six-tenths of each other going into Sunday.

8:51 p.m. – Reese Esponda on floor

Tuck double-double, small hop. Double layout, smallest of adjustments. Triple wolf turn. Barani to double back, small hop. Double pike, large hop back but stays in bounds. 14.450.

8:49 p.m. – Charleigh Bullock on floor

Full-in, hop back but keeps it in bounds. Whip full to double back, small hop back. Double Y-turn to full turn. Front double full. 2.5, large bounding step out but stays in bounds. 13.450.

8:47 p.m. – Hezly Rivera on beam

Double wolf turn. Side aerial to split jump to straddle jump. Back handspring to layout two feet. Front aerial to ring jump to back swing down. Switch ring. Switch leap. Double pike, single step. 14.300.

8:46 p.m. – Dulcy Caylor on floor

Double Y-turn. Double layout, small hop forward. Whip full to double back to punch front – hits it! Like a funky 2.5 wolf turn. Double L-turn. Double pike, small hop back. 13.450

8:42 p.m. – Caroline Moreau on floor

Double layout, small hop forward. Full-in, hop back. Front layout through to double back. Triple wolf turn. 13.050.

8:39 p.m. – Zoey Molomo on vault

Yurchenko 1.5 – knee wobbles a bit in a scary way, but it’s a stellar landing – just a small hop – for a 14.000 – 9.4 E-score.

8:37 p.m. – Claire Pease on beam

Triple wolf turn. Switch leap to split jump to Onodi. Back handspring to layout stepout to layout stepout. Front aerial to straddle jump to back handspring. Side aerial. Switch half. 2.5 twist hop to the side. 13.900 – 55.600 to tie with Skye!

8:35 p.m. – Skye Blakely on vault

HUGE Lopez, small hop back. Beautiful through the air. 14.200 – 9.4 E-score. 55.600 all-around!

8:33 p.m. – Jade Carey on bars

Toe-on to Bhardwaj. Van Leeuwen. Ezhova. Maloney to Gienger, close catch. Giant 1/1. Full-twisting double layout, small hop. 13.350.

Rotation 3

8:21 p.m. – Charleigh Bullock on beam

Full turn. Back handspring to layout stepout. Switch leap to split half to back handspring. Jump. Side aerial, small bobble. front aerial to split jump to back swing down. Side somi, arm swing. 2.5, small hop forward. 13.700.

8:14 p.m. – Hezly Rivera on bars

Clear hip half to toe 1/1 to stalder Shaposh to stalder to stalder piked Tkatchev and it looks wrong from the start – didn’t catch it and falls to the mat. Maloney to straddle Tkatchev. Half turn to full-twisting double back, single step. 12.500.

The Downie (stalder piked Tkatchev) she fell on to Pak is an upgrade for her. Missed the Pak as a result of the fall.

8:10 p.m. – Claire Pease on bars

14.200 – stuck her double front half.

8:07 p.m. – Skye Blakely on floor

1.5 to front full, small hop forward – very clean. Double front to stag, excellent. 2.5 wolf turn. Front double full, couple bounding steps out but keeps it in bounds. She was looking for a front punch out of that but took it out either on the fly or after some struggles in podium. 13.450.

8:02 p.m. – Jade Carey on vault

Vault 1: Double-twisting Yurchenko, small hop. 14.200.

Vault 2: Lopez, small hop. 13.800.

Average = 14.000

8:00 p.m. – Reese Esponda on beam

Roundoff back handspring, swinging arms a couple times. Back tuck. Side aerial to layout stepout, more arm swinging – a lot. Once again gets it back. Switch leap to switch half, slightest stumble. Wolf jump to straddle jump. Triple wolf turn. Stuck double pike – something that has become a regular occurrence for her. 12.350.

Rotation 2

7:51 p.m. – Dulcy Caylor on bars

Toe 1/1 to Maloney to Pak. Van Leeuwen. Blind change to straddle Jaeger. Lost her swing, but regrouped quick. Double layout, single step back. 12.900.

7:43 p.m. – Skye Blakely on beam

Triple wolf turn. Standing full. Front handspring to front tuck, stumbles but stays on. Front pike, little leg up. Switch leap to switch half to back tuck, solid. Front aerial, seems to miss the connection to the split jump to back handspring. Double tuck. Bit nervy set. 13.750.

7:39 p.m. – Jade Carey on floor

Full-twisting double back, small hop. Tucked double-double – huge. Plenty of time coming out of that – triple-double perhaps? 1.5 to front full to stag. Double back, big rebound back – bit uncontrolled. 13.750.

7:37 p.m. – Claire Pease on vault

Vault 1: Double-twisting Yurchenko, tons of power, large hop back. 13.950.

Vault 2: Lopez, hop back.

7:35 p.m. – Reese Esponda on bars

Toe 1/1 to Van Leeuwen. Has to muscle the handstand up before the Ezhova – like really muscle it, surprised she saved it. Maloney to Gienger. Full-twisting double tuck.

7:33 p.m. – Charleigh Bullock on bars

Stalder 1/2 to inbar 1/1 to inbar Shaposh to Pak. Van Leeuwen, great pop off the low bar. Inbar half to straddle Jaeger. Full-twisting double back, stuck.

7:31 p.m. – Hezly Rivera on vault

Nearly stuck double-twisting Yurchenko, smallest of hops. Looked much better than her warmup. 14.200.

Rotation 1

7:21 p.m. – Claire Pease on floor

Tucked double-double, single foot OOB. Double layout, small hop. 1.5 to 1.5 and pulled her foot to keep it from stepping out of bounds – finesse. 2.5 twist. 13.550.

No Moors today. It looked a bit crunchy in podium, so doing the tucked was probably a good choice.

7:20 p.m. – Jade Carey on beam

Switch side 1/4. Front aerial to split jump to back swingdown. Back handspring to layout stepout. Side aerial. Switch leap to switch half to straddle jump. Double back, small hop back.

7:18 p.m. – Isabella Anzola on beam

Double layout, stuck. 2.5 to punch front, step back – a bit low. Double back, little bit of low chest and small hop forward. Double pike, hop back. 12.950.

Lavi’s senior debut! Clean double-twisting Yurchenko, large step back. 13.950.

Full-twisting double layout, smallest of hops. Double layout, small hop forward. Double wolf turn. Punch front through to double back, step forward – bit of a low chest. 2.5, crunch landing and steps out of it. The 2.5 was the biggest things – the rest was pretty great. 14.000.

  • Double-twisting Yurchenko update:
    • Dulcy Caylor = 13.850
    • Charleigh Bullock = 14.000
    • Reese Esponda STUCK = 14.200

7:07 p.m. – Jayla Hang on beam

Hit her beam routine with a timer layout. 13.050, basically without a dismount.

7:04 p.m. – Skye Blakely on bars

Stalder to toe-on piked Tkatchev. Stalder piked Tkatchev to Pak. Toe 1/1 to Van Leeuwen. Blind change. Double front half, step back. 14.200.

6:23 p.m. – Warmups happening now

Jade Carey did an excellent double-twisting Yurchenko that looked like a timer just a bit ago.

Junior Recap

U.S. Classic champion and Pacific Reign gymnast Addalye VanGrinsven leads the junior women after day one of competition at the 2026 Xfinity U.S. Gymnastics Championships.

VanGrinsven earned a 53.150 – nearly 2 points ahead of World Class gymnast Eva Doherty’s 51.200. Cincinnati’s Kylie Smith rounded out the top three with a 51.150.

The newly-minted 15-year-old, who celebrated her birthday Thursday, earned a personal best and debuted a new floor routine composition that opened with a double layout and scored a 13.600.

“The warmups went okay,” VanGrinsven said after the meet. I mean, a lot of things could have been better, but I think I’m actually really proud of how I pulled myself together. I was able to rise above any doubt that I felt.”

With a strong lead, VanGrinsven said she hopes to “keep it steady” on Sunday as she looks to win her second domestic title in less than a month. This is also her last junior meet before she becomes a senior next year.
