Invader from the Stars Walkthrough
Once you conclude The Beacon of Invasion, you’ll be prompted to speak to Omega in order to undertake the hunt. There’s not a lot else to do here, so speak to Omega and challenge the Omega Planetes!
We recommend getting assistance from Support Hunters or sending out an SOS Flare to have player assistance for this assignment.
Slay the Omega Planetes
A quick scene will play which will showcase Omega Planetes overpowering Jin Dahaad before you’ll be thrust straight into the fight.
How to Beat Omega Planetes
If you’re looking for all the information available about Omega Planetes, check out our full guide on the Omega Planetes.
The Omega Planetes fight is an incredibly difficult fight and arguably the toughest fight they’ve added to this point in Monster Hunter Wilds.
- Omega Planetes is a fight unlike any other Wilds has seen before, relying heavily on mechanics that don’t normally exist in Monster Hunter, meaning you’ll have to step out of your comfort zone when facing this monster.
- For starters it’s HIGHLY recommended you face this monster in a party. If you don’t want to play online, even the NPC Support Hunters are an incredible boons for completing this quest. Be sure to take advantage of the mechanics of the fight and play the roles that make sense for you.
- The main mechanic of this fight is the use of the Enmity system, colloquially also called Aggro. You can gain aggro on Omega Planetes by targeting it’s hard, and you will be designated a threat line when you do have Omega Planetes, as well as be shown a pop-up on the right side of your screen when aggro changes. The player with Enmity can direct Omega Planetes attacks and will also be targeted by a majority of it’s attacks, so it’s highly recommended someone with good guard capabilities (Lance, Gunlance, Sword and Shield, Charge Blade, Great Sword) take the role of being the “Tank”.
- Omega Planetes is immune to fire and features a number of fire-based based attacks. It’s imperative to come into the fight with high fire resistance, as low fire resistance can often lead to instant death.
- This fight is a four-phase fight, taking place in each part of the Rimechain Peak, much like the Jin Dahaad fight. Be sure to bring as much healing as you can as well as partywide healing such as Lifepowders and Dusts of Life.
- Fire Res, Wide-Range, Speed Eater, and other support skills are very powerful for this fight, so be sure to sacrifice what you can afford to in order to bring some of these skills. Offense isn’t everything in this fight, although it is still VERY important you don’t compromise your damage too much.
- DESTROY WOUNDS WHEN YOU SEE THEM. There is no reason to save Wounds for later, as Omega Planetes will repair it’s wounds very quickly if not destroyed. Be sure to destroy them as soon as you can.
- Use the Pictomancy Spells you’re given! These spells have a higher chance of creating wounds and they’re also quite handy when you’re running around without your weapon, which will be often. Mog of the Ages is also a huge burst damage opportunity that you can use for DPS checks.
- One of the main gimmicks of this fight is the shield mechanic, which will be crucial to defending yourself as well as surviving the DPS check. Destroying wounds and weakpoints on it’s head will always generate a Shield, so be sure to target these as soon as you can. You can also destroy glowing Omega Micros to generate a shield. These shields can block nearly every attack Omega Planetes does EXCEPT for it’s physical attacks, such as it’s feet stamps and it’s charges. You can safely stay in the shield otherwise.
- In Phase 4 (or potentially Phase 3), destroying it’s Legs will cause it to fall and open up a weakspot on it’s Rear Axle. However, looting the broken Hind Leg will also drop a Shield Generator item which will allow you to deploy a Shield at any location you please. Be sure to take advantage of this during the final phase!
- Omega Planetes has a series of named attacks which they’ll make very clear by announcing them on the right side of your screen which makes it very easy to predict and plan for them:
- Rocket Punch – This will be one of Omega Planetes bread and butter attacks as well as one of the only moments of real reprieve you’ll get during this fight. Omega Planetes will summon a series of fists from it’s torso that will slowly fly towards players before colliding with them. The fists can be destroyed mid-flight or you can simply run away from this, but it’s highly recommended you destroy them while they’re in mid air. The Fists will target players according to their join order, so the quest starter will always be targeted first, so you can use this timing to get in some damage.
- Mustard Bomb – Omega Planetes will target one player with Mustard Bomb by a explosion marker. Make sure if you’re targeted by Mustard Bomb to take the explosion outside of the group as far as you can, as it will leave a large puddle of fire in it’s wake. Standing in this puddle is devastating even for small moments, so be sure to not get near it.
- Starboard and Larboard Wave Cannon – A powerful sweeping attack that will cover a semi-circle of space oriented around Omega Planetes. The direction that Omega Planetes spins will depend on the name of the attack. Larboard is Counter Clockwise and Starboard is Clockwise.
- MRV Missile – Omega Planetes will fire a series of missiles in quick succession that targets all players. Be sure to get on your Seikret when running away, as these missiles come down slightly faster than your player can run out of them if you’re not already moving by the time you see the target marker.
- Omega Planetes also has several other, non-named attacks it does. One main attack is the flamethrower attack will send four flame cones from it’s body, leaving four safe zones. When you see this attack, be sure to run towards the safe zone as well as toward Omega Planetes (in a slight diagonal) as the area to run is smaller when closer to Omega Planetes. You can also run out of this attack if you’re close enough to the edge. You can tell it’s prepping this attack when it looks like it’s standing on it’s toes, bringing it’s torso very high up.
- Omega Planetes also has a directional laser attack where Omega Planetes will fire several lasers from one side of it’s body, which follows in a straight arc. Depending on your distance, you can stand between the lasers, but if you’re not confident, it’s best to try and walk around them. It’s very difficult to dodge through this attack, so be sure to do it only with good timing or not at all. Later in the fight, Omega Planetes will begin to do this attack from all sides at once, meaning it’s legs become the safe zones. If Omega Planetes fires this from it’s head, it will also create a small weakpoint that you can exploit for a shield.
- Omega Planetes can also fire a single missile, similar to MRV Missile. This one you simply need to run and dodge from.
- While moving or flying around, Omega Planetes also likes to fire small explosive orbs at players. These don’t look very threatening but if all three hit you can do a lot of damage, so be sure to stay mobile when it targets a player. The player targeted will have a small blue cone shadow. near their model.
- Perhaps one of it’s scariest attacks is it’s charge attack. Omega Planetes will pause for a moment and face a direction before zooming in a straight line. This attack is both very fast and very strong, possibly leading to instant death if your armor isn’t high enough and you’re not topped up. You can tell this attack is coming when it seemingly seems to completely freeze, so be sure to dodge this attack when it’s coming. This attack importantly can be Power Clashed, so if you have a shield, be sure to take advantage of it.
- One of it’s attacks will cause it to summon several Omega Micros that will walk towards players and self-destruct. Sometimes a glowing Omega Micros will be summoned as well that can be destroyed for a shield. Be sure to target this if you can.
- The last of it’s normal attacks is the giant laser attack it will do starting in Phase 2. It will usually fly off before initiating it’s laser attack which targets a player. If you’re targeted, be sure to run away from this attack if you can. If you’re not targeted, you can also watch the direction Omega Planetes it spinning and run in the opposite direction as to not get caught in a cross-laser path. Be sure to run towards it as well, as the turn arc is much slower next to Omega Planetes. If you’re capable of guarding, you can also block this attack and act as a barrier for your allies.
- Finally in Phase 3 it will gain one new attack which will cause it to fire a huge, black and white orb at the player with Aggro. Taking damage from this attack will inflict an HP Cut debuff, which reduces your max HP for a small period of time. However, taking two HP Cut debuffs will significantly increase the debuff timer, so it’s crucial you don’t get hit by more than one.
- In Phase 2 and Phase 4 it will activate it’s Pantokrator mode. This mode will make Omega Planetes much more aggressive. It’s attacks will mostly remain the same, but it will become faster and gain some new version of it’s existing attacks.
- During this phase, it will also gain access to a berserk attack, where it will start stampeding around and shooting fire out in multiple directions. It’s highly recommended you mount up when you start seeing it stamp around and wait out the attack. The attack will end after it shoots it’s flamethrower a third time, which exposes all of it’s legs as a weakpoint.
- This phase ends after you do enough damage to it’s legs, so be sure to focus heavily on it’s legs.
- In Phases 2, 3, and 4 there will be a series of rocks and icicles you can use to your advantage. Be sure to drop them on Omega Planetes to stop it’s rampages and attacks.
- Finally, in Phase 3 there will be a very crucial DPS check. Omega Planetes will initiate Delta Attack, which will cause it to fly away and become immune to all damage. It will summon a Nerscylla Clone as well as several Omega Micros and Cactuars and Malboros. The Malboros will walk towards players and explode, causing a series of status ailments if you’re hit. This can also hit the Nerscylla, so be sure to use this to your advantage, as it will both poison and paralyze the Nerscylla, making this part much easier. When struck, Cactuars will deal 100 damage to the Nerscylla, and some splash damage to the player. In order to effectively meet this DPS check, it’s important to take advantage of the hostile endemic life.
- Once you defeat the Nerscylla Clone, you will summon a shield that you can stand in allowing you to survive the Delta Attack. Failing to beat the DPS check will cause the Nerscylla Clone to despawn and cause Omega Planetes to instantly wipe the hunt. Notably, you can Farcaster during this in order to dodge death or if you’re hunting solo with Support Hunters, you will still be able to continue.
Once you finally defeat Omega Planetes, you’ll get your rewards and Omega and Alpha will return to their home planet. You’ll also earn the privilege of challenging Omega Planetes (Savage) in the Event Quest section, which is even tougher than the base fight!
