ITV viewers fumed that a Beat the Chasers star was “robbed” after narrowly losing out on £75,000 with just one second to go.
A brand new series of the ITV quiz programme returned to screens this evening (October 5) for its seventh instalment.
As always, new participants face off against the intimidating chasers: Mark Labbett, Shaun Wallace, Anne Hegerty, Paul Sinha, Jenny Ryan, and Darragh Ennis, all vying for a monetary reward.
There was a somewhat rocky start on the show, with Jemima starting strong and going home with £4,000. However, subsequent players, Ceri and Daniel, were unable to catch the chasers.

With player Sanjay winning £60,000 after an impressive round against four chasers, it was contestant Sam who had people talking after an intense head-to-head.
After a strong cash builder, Sam opted to take on all five chasers for a staggering £75,000. In a tense head-to-head, he narrowly missed out on the huge sum with just one second to go, leaving viewers fuming.
Some fans believe he was “robbed, as taking to X, formerly Twitter, one fan said: “#BeatTheChasers doesn’t often get that close.”
Another simply wrote: “Robbed.” A third added: “Absolutely gutted!”
A fourth said, “Poor Sam. Lost by one second.”
Fans were left fuming when Sam was given the wrong answer for saying Chanel, as one person wrote: “He said Coco Chanel! Out of order.”
Another added: “You have to give Chanel, what!”
A third said, “How did he not get Chanel?!” A fourth replied: “That was outrageous! Chanel Coco Chanel wtf.” (sic)

One person said: “Why was Jenny allowed *JFK* instead of *Kennedy* if Coco Chanel was not allowed?!
Earlier on the show, one chaser came under fire with fans minutes into the programme. Jemima was first to face the quizzing legends, and after a strong start, she opted to take on Paul Sinha and Shaun Wallace for £4,000 within 37 seconds.
With a strong performance, she beat the two by 36 seconds, with fans claiming it was a “disaster” for Paul and Shaun, as Shaun answered limited questions and Paul gave several incorrect answers.
Taking to X, formerly Twitter, one person wrote: “Catastrophic from the Chasers!” Another said: “Paul is having a mare.” A third added: “That was a disaster for the Chasers.”
Chaser Mark Labbett himself said: “Felt really sorry for Paul there. Shaun doesn’t guess, and he basically left Paul on his own.”
Even chaser Darragh was quick to share a cheeky remark on the show as he told Jemima: “I’d love to say you played well, but you really didn’t have to.”
Beat the Chasers airs Sundays at 8pm on ITV1
