Emmerdale’s Lewis Cope is strutting his stuff on Strictly Come Dancing 2025 but the actor could be set to make a shock comeback to the soap

Lewis Cope could be set for an Emmerdale return following his stint on this year’s Strictly Come Dancing series.
Actor Lewis shot to fame when he joined the ITV soap back in 2022 as Nicky Miligan, the estranged son of Caleb (William Ash) and Ruby (Beth Cordingly.
And it’s fair to say Nicky quickly found himself involved in some dramatic storylines. From hiding his sexuality from his father to being involved in a horror car crash, his time in the Dales was not short of drama.
However, in 2024, Nicky left the village with his boyfriend Suni Sharma (Brahmdeo Shannon Raman). Following his soap exit, it didn’t take actor Lewis long to land another gig on a major show.

This year, Lewis joined the Strictly Come Dancing 2025 series at the last minute and was surprised by the opportunity, which happened within a 24-hour period.
On the glitzy BBC One show, Lewis is partnered with Katya Jones. The pair have become firm favourites with viewers and have thoroughly impressed fans with their routines so far.
But according to soap fans, they reckon Lewis could be heading back to reprise his role as Nicky, noting it could be when the police discover his grandad Anthony Fox’s (Nicholas Day) dead body.

As viewers will recall Anthony was murdered in January by his daughter Ruby, who he sexually abused as a teen and got pregnant. Secret killer John Sugden (Oliver Farnworth) then helped clear the body and crime scene of any evidence.
Fast forward to last month, and after helping John flee the country, he told Caleb the location of Anthony’s body. Caleb later dug up his remains to see for himself.
Fans have predicted a return
But with things very rarely staying buried in soap land, fans reckon the discovery of Anthony’s body could lead to the return of Lewis. On an Emmerdale Facebook fan page one person wrote: “I hope when Lewis Cope is done with Strictly he’ll come to Emmerdale.”
A second penned: “Same here.” A third chimed in: “He might return when Anthony’s body gets found?”Echoing their thoughts, another wrote: “That’s true, especially if Ruby or Caleb get caught.”
