Everything is bigger in Texas. A Brit takes a spin through the state fair.
As a Brit who has spent a couple of months traveling around the U.S. on assignments, I thought I was prepared for the State Fair of Texas.
Britain is a nation of fairs, from the Chelsea Flower Show to Crufts and smaller county dos. Where I grew up, in the Kent countryside in southeast England, they’re affairs populated by sixth generation family farmers offering you cranberry-infused cheeses and Cumberland sausages in buns with just a dash of ketchup. Quintessentially British: parochial and reserved.
