This temporary closure was announced shortly after 6am this morning (Monday, June 15) by Great Western Railway (GWR).
It has been caused by an incident of damage to the overhead electric wires, sparking major complications for those commuting.
Several Oxfordshire to London trains and vice versa pass through Reading, meaning multiple connections have been cancelled or delayed this morning.

A statement from the train service on the social media site X said: “Travel update.
“Due to damage to the overhead electric wires between Reading and London Paddington the line towards London Paddington bound local stopping is closed.
“Train services running to and from these stations may be cancelled or revised.
“Disruption is expected until 1pm.
