Old Farmers Almanac offers a Thanksgiving weather warning for Oregon, Pacific Northwest

Experts are predicting a potential hiccup for those hosting Thanksgiving dinner in the Northwest.

Nasty weather is likely to throw a monkey wrench straight into the mashed potatoes.

According to the Old Farmers Almanac, the Pacific Northwest should be primed up for heavy rainfall and chilling temperatures during 2025’s Thanksgiving week.

The Old Farmers Almanac has been predicting weather since 1792. For several years they have been publishing a Thanksgiving forecast to help their readers out with holiday planning.

They claim an 80% accuracy rate. With a track record like that, it’s wise to take heed.

“Holiday travelers should plan for damp drives and pack patience,” they warn. “Expect slick roads and reduced visibility at times.”

It may be a good year for Oregonians to make travel plans out of state for the holiday.

The South, the Heartland, and parts of the Midwest are expected to have have warmer-than-normal weather.

Let’s not forget, this isn’t set in stone. Weather patterns can flip on you faster than political conversations with family.

The Almanac makes these claims based on the thickness of onion skins and the viscosity of spider webs. It’s far from an exact science.
