The clash between Jacksonville and Seattle is one of the best games of Week Six and the Seahawks are worth backing to bring the Jaguars back down to earth after they upset the Kansas City Chiefs on Monday night.
Jacksonville have far exceeded expectations in their first season under head coach Liam Coen and are 4-1, while Seattle should also be happy with the way they have started their first year with Sam Darnold at quarterback. As well as the home side have played, their record is somewhat flattering and they are worth taking on.
Jacksonville’s three wins before QB Trevor Lawrence stumbled into the end zone to beat the Chiefs don’t amount to much as they beat an awful Panthers team, a struggling Texans outfit in a poor 17-10 game, and the 49ers, whose QB Brock Purdy had come back from injury too soon. Lawrence is averaging just 6.3 yards per pass attempt and has thrown five interceptions.
The Seahawks’ losses were both by fewer than five points and even though they have had to travel across the US, the Jaguars have had a day less to prepare after their energy-sapping win over the Chiefs.
Jacksonville have also had to reshuffle their defence after trading top cornerback Tyson Campbell to the Browns this week. Greg Newsome arrived in the same deal but he was playing for Cleveland in London last Sunday and will have had very little time to learn his new team’s defensive scheme.
