Going to one of the big games? King County Metro connects you to a weekend of Seattle sports

This might be the greatest sports weekend in Seattle history: close to 200,000 fans coming together at two stadiums to witness playoff baseball, a historic rivalry and a Golden Anniversary celebration!
Mariners, Sounders and Hawks fans descending on SODO have lots of transit options – which takes away the hassle of slogging through traffic and paying for parking. Save your energy for cheering and use transit to get to T-Mobile Park and Lumen Field.
Four big games Oct. 4 and 5
The American League West Champion Seattle Mariners host two games of the American League Divisional Playoffs Oct. 4 and 5. The Seattle Sounders on Oct. 4 who host our friends from the south, the Portland Timbers at Lumen Field. On Oct. 5 the Seahawks celebrate the franchise’s 50th anniversary as they face off against their expansion “brothers” the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
Riders can rely on Metro buses to reach SODO or connect with Sound Transit 1 Line, the Seattle Streetcar and the King County Water Taxi. Together, our expanded network helps everyone — fans, tourists, workers and people out and about on the weekend — get where they need to go safely and comfortably.
Tips and tricks?
- No. 1: Allow extra travel time to get to the ballpark and stadium.
- No. 2: Plan your trip to the game AND home again in advance. Visit Trip Planner, use the Trip Planner app, or check on when your bus will arrive using One Bus Away. Another way to find the best routes is by calling Metro Customer Service at 206-553-3000 weekdays, from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. Press 1 for an interpreter.
- No. 3: Board available transit swiftly after the games let out. It takes some time to get everyone on board and back home, but experienced fans know the drill! Thank you in advance for your patience. Please review your bus schedules and have a backup travel plan.
- Transit map: Whether you’re coming into Seattle from the north, south, east, or west, our transit wayfinder map for the stadium area is a handy guide on how you can take transit to SODO, showing both bus routes and ways to connect to Sound Transit Link light rail. Your bus routes: Plan your trip to the stadiums with connections from your community to the 1 Line and the bigger transit network. After the games, Metro RapidRide C, D and H lines and Sound Transit Express routes 545, 550, 554 will have some added trips to help meet rider demand. A great tool for whenever you’re riding transit is our Text for Departures tool (text your bus stop number to 62550 to see when your bus is predicted to arrive and leave.)
Sound Transit: Sound Transit plans special Sounder train service on Sunday. Link 1 Line service is the workhorse delivering fans swiftly and frequently to and from the ballpark and stadium.
Water Taxi: This is the last weekend the King County Water Taxi will operate its late-night summer service to West Seattle. Crews plan to operate a Saturday schedule all weekend. The last sailings from Pier 50 to West Seattle on Saturday, Oct. 4, and Sunday, Oct. 5, will be at 10:45 p.m. Free water taxi shuttles in West Seattle also will operate extended hours to match the sailing times.
Seattle Streetcar: The First Hill Streetcar will operate on its regular schedule. If the crowds and traffic are too heavy near Occidental Mall, the streetcar instead will use the stop at Fifth Avenue and South Jackson Street as its turn-around point.
