Keira Knightley was shocked by that twist in Netflix’s ‘The Woman in Cabin 10’ (Spoilers!)

Spoiler alert! We’re discussing major plot details in Netflix’s psychological thriller “The Woman in Cabin 10” (streaming now). Stop reading if you don’t want to know the ending.
Keira Knightley is seeing double.
In “The Woman in Cabin 10,” the two-time Oscar nominee plays a journalist named Lo Blacklock, who witnesses a mystery woman get thrown off the balcony of a luxury superyacht owned by an ailing billionaire, Anne (Lisa Loven Kongsli), and her husband, Richard (Guy Pearce).
Lo doggedly investigates the murder, even as her fellow passengers and crew members try to quash her efforts. But Lo finally gets some answers midway through the movie, when she discovers that it was actually Anne who was flung overboard.
After learning that his cancer-stricken wife planned to donate their fortune when she died, Richard hired a woman named Carrie (Gitte Witt) to shave her head and disguise herself as Anne. When the yacht docked, Richard and Carrie would go to Anne’s lawyers and amend the will in his favor.
Carrie insisted that she never wanted to harm Anne. But after Anne caught Richard and Carrie kissing in her cabin, he cracked his wife’s skull open in a fight and disposed of her body in the ocean.
Knightley never read Ruth Ware’s 2016 novel. So when she got the script, she was shocked by the twist revelation of “Fake Anne,” whom Lo encounters below deck one night in a heated confrontation.
“I was like, ‘Gosh, I didn’t see that coming! F—— hell, how are we going to shoot that?’ ” Knightley recalls. “ ‘And how are we going to get away with it? Are they going to have the same actress (play Anne and Carrie), or will they be different actresses?’ ”
The filmmakers assured Knightley that they would, in fact, be different actresses. “I met both of them while they still had hair, before they had their heads shaved. And I was like, ‘What? They don’t look alike,’ ” she says, laughing. “But it was actually amazing, because as soon as they did have their heads shaved, you just don’t question it. It’s quite strange!”
How does Netflix movie ‘The Woman in Cabin 10’ end?
Anne wrote a speech for a charity gala before her death, announcing that she planned to give away all her money. Lo finds the speech and sneaks into the function, where she storms the stage and exposes Richard in front of the entire crowd for murdering his wife.
Enraged, Richard holds a knife to Lo’s throat, before he’s shot in the shoulder by Anne’s head of security (Amanda Collin). Lo then bludgeons Richard in the head with a metal pipe and kills him.
In the final scene of the movie, Lo is back at work and sitting at her desk. She grins as she reads her news story about Richard’s accomplices, who are set to stand trial for their roles in Anne’s murder.
“She figured out something was going on, so she went after corruption and managed to topple power,” Knightley says. “That’s who she is to her core, so I guess there’s satisfaction in the resolution. But it’s still pretty dark – she does kill him, after all. But to each their own!”
