An engagement announcement was made during Monday’s This Morning, following a romantic proposal involving singer Jane McDonald
Monday’s instalment of This Morning was interrupted by an exciting engagement announcement shared by hosts Ben Shephard and Cat Deeley.
Midway through the episode, regular proceedings were halted as Cat revealed that a member of the This Morning production team had recently proposed to their partner.
“At the end of last week, our lovely art director Matty got engaged to his partner of 10 years, Luke,” Cat shared, as the camera panned to Matty.
Ben added, “Matty got down on one knee whilst holidaying on a cruise ship. So, of course, there was only one person who could help him seal the deal…”

He went on to share details of the proposal, which occurred on a cruise ship with the help of famous singer Jane McDonald.
A clip of Jane played, with the singer seen halting her set to point Matty out in the crowd and invite him onto the stage, introducing him as “Matty from ITV”.
“How long have you been together?” she asked Matty, as his boyfriend Luke joined the pair on stage. As he confirmed they’d been an item for a decade, Jane then hinted towards marriage.
“10 years! I think it’s about time you did something about it, don’t you?” Jane insisted, with Matty soon getting down on one knee and asking his “best friend” to marry him.
Ben and Cat beamed as the clip showed Luke agreeing to marry Matty, who then confirmed he’d been planning the proposal for many months, having initially approached Jane in December 2024 while she was promoting a Pantomime.

“Congratulations. What a lovely way to start the week!” Ben exclaimed. “And, thank you to Jane as well!”
Jane has long performed on cruise ships and has also created TV shows focused on cruising, including the award-winning “Cruising with Jane McDonald.”
Monday’s instalment of This Morning also featured an interview with ex-TOWIE favourite Pete Wicks as he revealed all about his new TV show, as well as all of the best winter skincare tips from beauty mogul Nadine Baggott.
Elsewhere, Sian Welby brought TV viewers the latest entertainment news, while Ben and Cat were joined by Alun Ebenezer, a headteacher who saw his strict school rules become a major talking point in recent months.
