Oliveira, who was fighting for the first time in two years, came out sharp to start, finding her range early and keeping Luciano at bay for much of the first round. But as the fight progressed, “Rondinha” began to take over, landing the better shots throughout the second before mixing in more of her grappling in the third, finding her way to the back in a scramble and lacing up the rear-naked choke.
This was an excellent performance for the 25-year-old from Minas Gerais, who moved to 2-1 in the UFC and 7-2-1 overall with the victory. After dropping a split decision to game American Sam Hughes last time out, Luciano couldn’t have asked for a better way to get herself back in the win column.
