Bryant Gumbel, former Today host, hospitalized after medical emergency

Bryant Gumbel, the former Today show host and sportscaster, was hospitalized Monday for a “medical emergency” in New York City.

TMZ, citing sources, reports Gumbel, 77, was taken from his Manhattan apartment building.

Bryant was taken on a gurney and “still getting treatment,” per the report.

TMZ reported one of Gumbel’s family members said the broadcaster is “OK.”

Gumbel, who co-hosted the Today Show in 1982 with alongside Jane Pauley and Katie Couric, is a four-time Emmy winner.

He started Real Sports with Bryant Gumbel in 1995 and it ran until 2023.

Gumbel, who retired from broadcasting in 2023, battled lung cancer in 2009.
