Raptors’ Collin Murray-Boyles, Ja’Kobe Walter out for opener against Hawks

Toronto Raptors fans will have to wait a little longer to see the team’s prized rookie suit up.

Collin Murray-Boyles, the ninth overall pick in June’s draft, will miss Wednesday’s season opener against the Atlanta Hawks due to a right forearm muscle strain, the team said.

Live coverage of the Raptors’ season opener will be available on Sportsnet and Sportsnet+ at 7:30 p.m. ET / 4:30 p.m. PT.

Murray-Boyles, the 20-year-old forward, also missed the Raptors’ pre-season finale on Friday after hurting his elbow during the preceding game.

The South Carolina product averaged 6.7 points, 3.7 rebounds and 2.7 assists in three pre-season contests. Against the Sacramento Kings on Oct. 8, Murray-Boyles scored 12 points, pulled down seven boards, recorded six assists and blocked two shots.

Walter, the shooting guard selected 19th overall in the 2024 draft, suited up in 52 games during his rookie season, scoring 8.6 points per contest.

He is expected to compete with the likes of Gradey Dick and Ochai Agbaji for a role off the bench.
