“Big Brother” alums Taylor Hale and Kyland Young are competing as partners on season 38 of “The Amazing Race,” but are they still a couple in real life?
Last month, Kyland, 34, shed some light on his history with Taylor, 30, in a video shared via X.
“I see people confused trying to piece together [relationship] timelines, and of course, you’re confused — we haven’t been talking about it,” Kyland said. “You don’t have the information because the only people that actually have it haven’t given it to you. So, let me be clear, even though we’re not a couple right now, we did date.”
Kyland explained that he and Taylor kept their relationship “incredibly private,” save for “one mention of a single dinner” two years ago.
“Over the past couple of years, we’ve had multiple periods where we were dating, and even times where we were fully boyfriend and girlfriend,” he said.
Kyland added that he and Taylor were “intentional” about working on their relationship “briefly before the [‘Amazing] Race,’ during filming, and even just after” the competition ended.
Although the pair are no longer romantically involved, Kyland emphasized there was “no blowup with huge fights” leading up to their split.
“There wasn’t cheating or scandals or any of the wild things I’ve seen online,” he said. “We had our struggles, and there were definitely times when I let Taylor down and caused her pain, and I fully own that. But I’m not going to let people twist any of this into something it wasn’t or make excuses to harass me, other people, and especially Taylor.”

Kyland and Taylor met through the “Big Brother” community. Kyland placed fourth on season 23 of the CBS reality show in 2021, and Taylor won season 24 in 2022.
On season 38 of “The Amazing Race,” the pair will compete against 12 of their fellow “Big Brother” alums, including Taylor’s ex-boyfriend Joseph Abdin.
