After welcoming his first grandchild, Jon Bon Jovi is sharing the grandpa name he’s planning to go by — and it has a sweet connection to his daughter-in-law Millie Bobby Brown’s television show.

The rockstar, 63, spoke with Savannah Guthrie for a new interview with Today and opened up about becoming a grandpa for the first time. Bon Jovi’s son Jake Bongiovi welcomed his first baby, a daughter, with Brown through adoption this past summer.

“Immediately you fall in love,” said Bon Jovi. “You know, when we met Jake and Millie’s daughter, it was just immediate. You’re like, ‘That’s my granddaughter.'”

“She won’t be able to walk for at least 10 or 12 years because Papa will be carrying her everywhere she goes,” he continued, sharing that he plans to go by “Papa” to his granddaughter.

The “Livin’ on a Prayer” singer’s preferred grandpa name coincidentally is the same name of a character on Brown’s TV show Stranger Things. “Papa” is the name of the man who watches over Brown’s character Eleven when she’s imprisoned in the lab.

Brown, 21, and Bongiovi, 23, confirmed in a post on Instagram this August that they had welcomed a baby girl via adoption. At the time, they shared that they were excited for the new adventures on the horizon.

“This summer we welcomed our sweet baby girl through adoption. We are beyond excited to embark on this beautiful next chapter of parenthood in both peace and privacy,” the two wrote in a joint post.

“And then there were 3,” they added.

After news broke that Brown and Bongiovi had welcomed a baby together, a source told PEOPLE that the actress often talked about wanting to grow her family at a young age — even before she married her husband in May 2024.

“She’s so young, but so focused. And she has the biggest heart,” the source told PEOPLE. “There’s no doubt that she’s a great mom. Pretty much everything she sets her mind to, she crushes.”

“And they have really worked on creating this special family life in Georgia. She loves her farm — it’s going to be such a special place for the baby to grow up,” the insider continued. “Even before they were married, she often spoke about her wish to be a young mom. And Jake was always on the same page. They’re in it together.”
