MLB Platinum Gloves Awards 2025 Full List of Winners and Reaction

The top defensive honors for the 2025 MLB season were given out on Friday night.

San Diego Padres right fielder Fernando Tatis Jr. and Kansas City Royals shortstop Bobby Witt Jr. were the recipients of the Platinum Glove Awards, which are presented to the top defensive player in each league during regular-season action.

Both players were previously selected for 2025 Gold Glove recognition at their respective positions, making them eligible for the Platinum Glove.

Tatis is familiar with the honor, as he also received a Platinum Glove Award for his 2023 season.

As for Witt, he’s the first member of the Royals to take home Platinum Glove honors since Alex Gordon in 2020.

Tatis continued to excel defensively in right field, as he’s won Gold Gloves in two of the three seasons since he switched from shortstop in 2023.

He ended his 2025 campaign with 15 defensive runs saved, tied for the most among National League outfielders as well as the sixth-most among all NL players (via FanGraphs). Tatis was also worth eight outs above average.

Meanwhile, Witt earned his second consecutive Gold Glove. He ranked No. 1 among American League shortstops with 43 double plays started.

Witt posted 24 outs above average as well, the most in the AL and tied for the most in the majors.
