Michigan football loses four-star WR commit to ACC school

Michigan’s football program has lost a key recruit in the 2026 class.
Mansfield (Texas) four-star receiver Zion Robinson flipped his commitment from the Wolverines to Stanford on Thursday, a day of national signing day.
The No. 182 prospect nationally, according to the 247Sports Composite, had been verbally pledged to the Wolverines since June, but he posted on Instagram Wednesday morning that he was “postponing signing until further notice.” Meanwhile, Stanford continued to push to flip him behind the scenes.
Receiver is a primary position of need for Michigan this cycle. Robinson, listed at 6-foot-3, was one of the headlines in the Wolverines’ class and is coming off a senior season where he totaled 47 catches for 823 yards and 11 interceptions in 10 games for Mansfield.
“Frame and explosion foster contested-catch dominance,” 247Sports scouting analyst Gabe Brooks writes in his scouting report. “Displays sneaky run-after-catch effectiveness relative to frame and straight-line top-end gear. Shows adequate acceleration that times requires a build-up runway, but leads to breakaway long speed.”
Another Michigan receiver commit, Chesapeake (Va.) Oscar Smith four-star Travis Johnson, was being pursued aggressively by Virginia Tech and new head coach James Franklin on Wednesday, but the Wolverines were able to secure his signature in the early evening. Dallas Parish Episcopal School three-star receiver Jaylen Pile also signed with Michigan on Wednesday.
Michigan has one remaining unsigned commit in Irmo (S.C.) Dutch Fork four-star edge Julian Walker, a top-100 recruit who is expected to announce his final decision Thursday afternoon. South Carolina, where is father is on staff as a strength coach, and North Carolina are pushing to flip him.
The Wolverines have 27 recruits in the 2026 class, which entered the day ranked 11th nationally.
