Outlander heartthrob Sam Heughan has been showered with praise from devoted followers after sharing a touching farewell to his most recent theatrical venture.

The Scottish actor, renowned for his portrayal of the legendary Highland warrior Jamie Fraser in the popular Starz drama, recently returned to the boards for the first time in more than a decade to embody Macbeth at The Other Place in Stratford-upon-Avon.

His comeback to Shakespeare garnered widespread critical praise, including a glowing five-star critique in The Guardian which described it as “a terrifying lock-in with bloodied, boozed-up gangsters”.

This contemporary interpretation of the timeless tragedy reimagined the famous Scottish lord as a Glasgow criminal wedded to a pub owner, played by Lia Williams.

Heughan delivered his final performance this past Saturday (6th December) and turned to Instagram to express his sincere gratitude to all those who attended, reports the Scottish Daily Express.

“Thank you to everyone that came to watch. What a fitful fever that was!! An honour to work with the best company and play the thane of Cawdor, in Stratford upon Avon.”

Admirers of Heughan who were fortunate enough to witness his latest stage performance flocked to the comments section to express their admiration.

“I feel so lucky I had the chance to see this play three times in november. You were amazing,” one Instagram user wrote. “Seeing you as Macbeth, see the expression on your face, the anxiety, the fear, the anger, the frustration, the sadness, a rollercoaster of emotions were there and I got [to] see and feel them all. You were really incredible. The whole cast was amazing. What an experience this was.”
