Kernan Trail Elementary among 4 Duval County schools placed on lockout due to ‘police activity’, DCPS says

DUVAL COUNTY, Fla. – Four Duval County schools were placed on lockout Monday afternoon due to “police activity in the area,” according to Duval County Public Schools.
Chets Creek Elementary School, Allen Axson Elementary School, Kernan Middle School and Kernan Trail Elementary School were placed on lockout. As of 3 p.m., school board officials said students and staff were safe at all four schools; however, the lockout would remain in effect through dismissal, which would occur at the regularly scheduled time with police presence.

“This is an important message for families of J. Allen Axson, Chets Creek, Kernan Middle, and Kernan Trail Elementary.
As a precaution due to police activity in the area, these schools have been placed on a lockout in coordination with law enforcement. All students and staff are safe. While on a lockout, no one is allowed to enter or leave the campus; however, schools will dismiss at their regularly scheduled times with police presence.
