BBC Morning Live’s Gethin Jones has updated fans on whether he will be returning to the series. The Welsh presenter is currently starring in Cardiff New Theatre’s pantomime, Sleeping Beauty as Prince Gethin of Gabalfa, and is therefore taking a break from his morning TV duties.

Normally, he presents Morning Live with his co-host Helen Skelton, but has had to take a break for the panto season. He has confirmed that he will be returning to the morning programme this Friday, December 19, for a special Christmas edition of the show, which will also mark the final Morning Live of the year before its Christmas break.

The TV presenter posted a video of himself walking around Cardiff City Centre, with the ominous caption “Update.” For the latest TV and showbiz gossip sign up to our newsletter

Gethin went on to tell fans about his time working on the panto: “Good morning, just on my way to the theatre for a two show day. All going well I haven’t been booed off yet, I see that as a positive.

“Back is holding up. Very boring rehab but it needs to be done.

“Amazing crew, cast, the whole team which makes a big difference.”

He then went on to update Morning Live fans about his future on the show.

Gethin said: “Couple of messages on here from people asking about Morning Live, which is very sweet.

“I’m very happy to say that I’ll be back with the team on Friday, I’ll be hosting on Friday with Hel. It’s the last Morning Live of the year. Then it’s a two week break and then we’re back on January the fifth.

“So, we do two shows in Cardiff on the Sunday in the panto and then I go straight back up for the new series or the new year.

“Excited to see the team on Friday, excited… to see you on Friday on screen and by then we’ll be half way through the panto run. Mad. Then it will be Christmas.

“So, yeah that’s me, just getting to the theatre, having a ginger tea. Warm up and vocal warm ups, show time.”
