A woman has been taken to hospital after being hit by a bus early Friday morning in Etobicoke, said Toronto police.

Officers responded to reports of a collision with a TTC bus and pedestrian around 5:54 a.m. near Evans Avenue and The West Mall area, said Toronto police on social media.

An adult female was taken to a local trauma centre with non-life threatening injuries, said Toronto paramedics.

The bus driver remained at the scene, said police, adding Evans Avenue at Sherway Gate is closed for the time being.

The TTC will support police as they investigate the case, said spokesperson Stuart Green in an emailed statement.

“Our thoughts are with the pedestrian,” he said. “We are also supporting the operator at this time.”
