Wisconsin basketball coach Greg Gard wants team to play with more bite
Wisconsin baskeball coach Greg Gard talked about some of the adjustments needed following a 30-point loss to Nebraska when he met reporters Dec.17.
The Villanova men’s basketball team is visiting Fiserv Forum earlier than normal this season, but not to play Marquette.
The first of the Wildcats’ two flights to Milwaukee this season is for a nonconference game with the Wisconsin Badgers on Friday, Dec. 19.
Though they’re uncommon opponents – their last meeting was in the 2017 NCAA tournament – they’ve had similar paths in their first 10 games.
Like Wisconsin, Villanova has dominated lesser competition and struggled against teams ranked ahead of them analytically. The Wildcats (8-2) have lost at Michigan and BYU – each was No. 2 at the time.

Wisconsin (7-2) also lost to BYU, as well as No. 15 Nebraska and TCU, but has fared well against other Big East teams this season. In addition to easily defeating Marquette, the Badgers cruised past Providence last month.
Nick Boyd and John Blackwell are ranked sixth and seventh in the Big Ten in scoring, combining to average nearly 40 points a game. Though the Wildcats also have a dynamic backcourt, they’re playing at one of the slowest tempos in Division I. Guards Bryce Lindsey and Acaden Lewis combine to average nearly 30 points.
